Molveno is a Touring Club Italiano Orange Flag village. The pretty historic centre overlooks the famous lake of the same name at the foot of the Dolomites, which has been receiving the “5 Vele” (5 Sails) from Legambiente for years, an award reserved for Italian lakes that stand out for their enhancement and conservation of the natural heritage. Every 10 years, during winter, the lake basin is emptied for cleaning and maintenance of the supply systems. This unusual spectacle draws in large numbers of visitors, curious onlookers and photographers. It was last carried out in 2017 and it is next scheduled for 2027!

In the summer, Lake Molveno is chosen by water sports enthusiasts as a place to enjoy some sailing, canoeing, windsurfing, sport fishing and swimming. Another much appreciated activity is the tour of the lake, a 13-km circuit to cover on foot or by bicycle that, among other things, runs past the Roman Bridge, the Rio Ceda Waterfall and the Baita ai Fortini di Napoleone, built by the Austrians in the nineteenth century.
